I think daycare is trying to kill my family

We are in the midst of yet another illness. It's the 8,129 one since the twins started daycare in September. We really like the place, but they only get to go like half the time because the other half of the time they are at home sick.

This month we had the stomach flu, colds, quadruple ear infections, and currently some sort of fever virus.

When I called daycare to let them know that the twins would not be coming (again), the director mentioned to me - "the first year in group care sure is a killer!" Gee, ya think? Oh goody, only another 6 months of illness to look forward too. Next time, I'd like an illness that causes me to be quarrantined for a few days. Preferably in a hotel room, with 24-hour room service.

Yesterday was another sick day spent at home. Luckily, Connor was finally well enough to start preschool. I don't have a picture of him ready for school since, due to the never-ending family room improvement project, our computer is not hooked up and I can't upload pics.

However, while Connor was at school and running errands with MIL, the destructive duo and I got to hang out all day. Their favorite game? Putting on their hats, grabbing numerous purses/bags, and heading to "work". I wave at them, tell them to have a good day at work, they blow me a kiss, wave back, and head to the front door. I love it.

Here are two pictures from our day. Excuse the quality - I took them on my phone, sent them to facebook, downloaded them to my work computer and uploaded them here. There might be an easier way, but I'm too exhausted/depressed from all the sickness to try.

It seemed as though the first two months of preschool we were all sick. It was terrible. This year we've had some illness, but not nearly to the degree as last year. I keep trying to stay positive... at least they're building their immune systems.. right? (Yeah, easy to say when you're not taking care of sick kids!)
hope things start to look up at your house and that the illnesses subside - my son never had strep until he started pre-school at age 4 and then he had it about every other week
you should check out THE MOTHER LOAD she's on my side bar at my blog and is also the mommy of twins

we aren't in school but we are sick. your twins are older than mine, but it sucks and i can sympathize.

hoping days of clear sinuses and soothed throats (and school attendance, right?) are in your near future!
It will get better! I think one or the other of our twins had something all the time as preschoolers, and that usually meant one of us did, too! Now, though, they have perfect attendance in school almost every year! I also spent 10 years working in a preschool, it does take a while for the kids' immune systems to adjust. As miserable as that time is, I think it pays off later! Believe it or not, a sick teenager is even worse that a sick toddler!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It always helps to hear that others know what I am going through! :)

Book Review...and a Giveaway!!!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of When the Rogue Returns  from Sabrina Jeffries herself! I couldn't wait to read it.  After reading the first book in The Duke's Men series, What the Duke Desires , I was excited to see that this next book was about Victor Cale. In  When the Rogue Returns , Victor Cale is headed to Scotland to investigate a woman, Sofie Franke.  He has his suspicions that this woman is actually Isabella, his wife who disappeared on him ten years before.  He has spent the last decade searching to bring her to justice after she stole the royal jewels and left him to behind to deal with the authorities.  Isabella Cale, now known as Sofie Franke, has built a new life for herself and her ten-year old daughter after her husband ran off with the royal jewels. Are you intrigued yet? Victor and Isa's first meeting was great! Both blame the other for the missing jewels, and both are greatly suspicious of the other's motives.  Despite their renewed feel

Enjoy the little things...

The music filled my head as I drove my car along the winding river road on that dark and snowy night.  I had just left my grandpa's wake and was headed home... alone.....  My husband had the stomach flu, we had moved into our new house the day before my grandpa passed, and I was 5 1/2 months pregnant.  The baby boy inside me kicked along with the song, as I cried and listened to the words. Mama told me when I was young Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say. And if you do this It will help you some sunny day. Take your time... Don't live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you'll find love, And don't forget son, There is someone up above. I've always found comfort in songs... the words of the artists resonating with me through even my darkest times. Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man is one of those songs that just happens to play on the radio at the precise moment that I need a remind

It's the most wonderful time of the year....

The countdown to Hallowe'en begins! Please note this is not the actual number of days until Hallowe'en. The picture was taken two days ago. The house is totally decorated, although I still could use a few more things ;) One of the cool new decorations I bought this year are these Halloween Pumpkin Wall Decals from Kohls.  I love them!  My structured, OCD self feels the mantle is too cluttered, but the spooky side of me just doesn't care. ;) How do you decorate for Hallowe'en?
