Happy First Birthday to my babies!!!

We had their party on Sunday with all the family. Here are some of my favorite pictures: The cake I "baked". (Wow, I am talented.) Colin was not too sure of the cake. Keira, however, dove right in. Finally Mommy had to show him the "correct" way to eat cake. He caught on quickly. Keira kept showing Colin how much fun eating with her hands was. Apparently she was still hungry... Finally he figured out what his sister was talking about!

A different kind of milestone

Connor will be turning three in a matter of weeks. Last year at this time, I was so worried about him, with the twins' impending arrival getting closer and closer, that my goal of no boo-boo (pacifier) after age 2 kind of disappeared. Now this boy has never had a lovey or a particular blanket or stuffed animal that he had to bring everywhere with him. But it got to the point where people thought the boo-boo had been permanently attached to his face because he ALWAYS had it. At one point, around 18 months, I tried doing that only nap/bed time thing. But without complete support from those darn daycare providers (aka Nana and Grammy), it didn't work out too well. And right before the twins were born seemed like a lousy time to start trying again. Once they came, life was too crazy to worry about it, and it was just easier to give him the boo-boo rather than deal with three kids crying. (Because apparently I was blessed with a set of twins who love to make their feelings known thr

They aren't babies anymore...

Every month since the twins have been about 4 months old, I have faithfully attended the Stork Club. It's a sub-group within the twins and triplets clubs I belong to. It's the only place where I feel like I fit in - being a mom of multiples. I can sit and talk with people who are going through the exact same thing as me. I usually feel really peaceful after these meetings because I do not feel so alone in this m.o.m. thing. However, since the twins are turning one next week (!), tonight will be my last meeting with the Stork Club. I will be moving to the Moms of TODDLERS club. How can that be? My babies are still babies, right? They drink from bottles (although they love to slosh the water around in their sippy cups), they've got lovies, boo-boos (pacifiers) and thumbs to chew on when they are tired, and they crawl all over the house. (Well actually Colin took his first steps today, but I have decided I am not ready for that! So perhaps I will pretend it didn't h

"Keepsakes" Pictures

Our local paper publishes a Happy First Birthday section every Sunday. So on Monday, Keith and I took the babies to get their pictures taken. The photographer was nice enough to take shots of the two of them together, although I guess that is expected since the real goal of the photographer is to get you to pay their insane prices for their pictures... but I digress. Now since she was not a "kids" photographer, she didn't do too much to get them to look at the camera - that ended up being mommy's job. But we got a ton of good shots. Plus they emailed them to me in a pdf file, probably under the assumption that my creative husband knows nothing about photoshop. ;) With some editing, we will be able to print our own pictures without spending $45 on an 8x10 and 6 wallets.

It's almost birthday time...

Sunday night my sister mentioned the twins' first birthday party. And asked if I realized how soon it was. I said sure, I knew. It's June 21. Then in my head, I thought, June 21?!?! That's 3 weeks away! I'm not prepared! I don't even have a theme! WTH? So now I am on a mission. Planning the perfect 1st birthday party for my little darlings. You know, the ones who get up at the crack of dawn to start their day. Who cannot be left alone for a minute because if I turn my back, Keira bursts into tears and Colin begins to climb whatever pen he is being held in. Who have decided they no longer want a 7 p.m. bed time. At least they are cute. ;)
