Summer Blog Challenge Days 1-7

Going Green with the Grizls

I'm late in this because, well, I just found out about it today! But it seems fun, and I've been in a bit of a blogging rut, so why not?!

June 1-- Why are you doing this challenge?

I am doing this blog challenge, because 1 - like I said above, I've been in a blogging rut and haven't been posting as often as I'd like, and 2 - because it sounds fun!

June 2-- Post a picture of you smiling.

This is me and Keira Princess Rose ;)

June 3-- 15 interesting things about yourself.
  1. I didn't find out I was pg with twins until the 20 week ultrasound.
  2. I danced in the 1996 New Year's Day Parade in London, England.
  3. I collect purses and silver rings.
  4. I can knit, cross-stitch, and crochet, yet I never have time to do so.
  5. I named my cat, Mina, after Mina Harker from Bram Stoker's Dracula
  6. I've been obsessed with reading since before I was in kindergarten.
  7. I have three tattoos.
  8. Some of my closest friends are people that I've never met in real life.
  9. I recently ate a cricket at the zoo. (On purpose. It was in a dip.)
  10. I seriously thought that I might die after eating the cricket because it's the grossest thing I've ever done.
  11. I want to be a published author.
  12. I work in the higher education field.
  13. I used to write poetry like a fiend.
  14. I will give up housework if it means I can read.
  15. I'd like to go back to school for another Masters degree, but there is no time!
June 4-- Meaning behind your blog name.

After the twins were born, I had a hard time scrapbooking and keeping track of things that were happening in my children's lives. Blogging allowed me to do this more easily. When I started the blog, I wanted it to reflect what life was really like for a working mom who had 3 kids in less than 2 years.  Life was (and still is) chaotic, but it's important to embrace the chaos rather than fight it if you want to make it out alive.

June 5-- Short term goals for this month and why those goals.

Short term goals include organize the office and post 5 pieces of jewelry on etsy.

June 6-- Nicknames you have & why you have them.

I don't have any normal nicknames. Just odd ones with odd stories to go with:
My dad started calling me "Swa" when I was little. It actually makes no sense - Sarah means "Princess" in Hebrew, and so somehow he came up with calling me Swahili Princess, and over time that was shortened to Swa.  (See, makes no sense. But when you think about how my dad nicknamed Colin "Bud" because he calls Keira "Rose" -her middle name-, you can see how odd my father is. Get it? He calls the twins "Rose Bud".)

Sometimes my sister calls me "Frank". And that's an even odder story! ;)

June 7-- Picture of something that makes you happy.

These three little stinkers make me SO happy!

Book Review...and a Giveaway!!!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of When the Rogue Returns  from Sabrina Jeffries herself! I couldn't wait to read it.  After reading the first book in The Duke's Men series, What the Duke Desires , I was excited to see that this next book was about Victor Cale. In  When the Rogue Returns , Victor Cale is headed to Scotland to investigate a woman, Sofie Franke.  He has his suspicions that this woman is actually Isabella, his wife who disappeared on him ten years before.  He has spent the last decade searching to bring her to justice after she stole the royal jewels and left him to behind to deal with the authorities.  Isabella Cale, now known as Sofie Franke, has built a new life for herself and her ten-year old daughter after her husband ran off with the royal jewels. Are you intrigued yet? Victor and Isa's first meeting was great! Both blame the other for the missing jewels, and both are greatly suspicious of the other's motives.  Despite their renewed feel

Enjoy the little things...

The music filled my head as I drove my car along the winding river road on that dark and snowy night.  I had just left my grandpa's wake and was headed home... alone.....  My husband had the stomach flu, we had moved into our new house the day before my grandpa passed, and I was 5 1/2 months pregnant.  The baby boy inside me kicked along with the song, as I cried and listened to the words. Mama told me when I was young Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say. And if you do this It will help you some sunny day. Take your time... Don't live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you'll find love, And don't forget son, There is someone up above. I've always found comfort in songs... the words of the artists resonating with me through even my darkest times. Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man is one of those songs that just happens to play on the radio at the precise moment that I need a remind

It's the most wonderful time of the year....

The countdown to Hallowe'en begins! Please note this is not the actual number of days until Hallowe'en. The picture was taken two days ago. The house is totally decorated, although I still could use a few more things ;) One of the cool new decorations I bought this year are these Halloween Pumpkin Wall Decals from Kohls.  I love them!  My structured, OCD self feels the mantle is too cluttered, but the spooky side of me just doesn't care. ;) How do you decorate for Hallowe'en?
