Creating something...

I've made jewelry for as long as I can remember. I started young with those big plastic beads. In fact, I still have a couple of necklaces. As I got older (and had more money), I started working with semi-precious stones. They aren't cheap to make, but I love how pretty they are. The New Age part of me shines through as well, because you can use stones for healing as well. (Whether the stones actually work, or it's more mind over matter, I'm not quite sure. ;))

For awhile now I've been saying I should open an Etsy shop and sell some things.  Two things are holding me back, (one) I have little time to make pieces and (two) what if no one buys anything?

Whether or not I actually start a shop, I will still make jewelry because nothing makes me happier than wearing something that I created!

Chakra earrings
Red jasper, carnelian, citrine, malachite,
turquoise, lapis lazuli and amethyst

Chakra bracelet with carnelian,
as well as amethyst, lapis lazuli, turquoise, aventurine, citrine, and garnet chips

Carnelian's properties include: Protects the user from all negative emotions. Wonderful protective energy over rage, resentment, bad tempers, and anger in self and from others.   It helps one banish sorrow or depression.  Grounds energy and attention into the present. Healing for kidneys, which is one of the reasons I wear it.

Chakra jewelry helps to realign and balance the energy fields of each specific chakra, aligning and harmonizing mind, body and soul. Each color represents a specific part of the body and soul.

Rose quartz necklace

Rose quartz brings peacefulness and harmony to the wearer.
It helps balance emotions and heal emotional wounds and traumas,
even grief, bringing peace and calm.

Book Review...and a Giveaway!!!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of When the Rogue Returns  from Sabrina Jeffries herself! I couldn't wait to read it.  After reading the first book in The Duke's Men series, What the Duke Desires , I was excited to see that this next book was about Victor Cale. In  When the Rogue Returns , Victor Cale is headed to Scotland to investigate a woman, Sofie Franke.  He has his suspicions that this woman is actually Isabella, his wife who disappeared on him ten years before.  He has spent the last decade searching to bring her to justice after she stole the royal jewels and left him to behind to deal with the authorities.  Isabella Cale, now known as Sofie Franke, has built a new life for herself and her ten-year old daughter after her husband ran off with the royal jewels. Are you intrigued yet? Victor and Isa's first meeting was great! Both blame the other for the missing jewels, and both are greatly suspicious of the other's motives.  Despite ...

A Spooky Celebration

Far off in a field, in central Illinois, there lies a patch of pumpkins of the magical kind. No one knows where they come from; they appear every October, yet no one ever plants a seed. Rare in nature is the person who finds this field.  It is said that only those with a touch of magick in their hearts can find this place.  As you walks delicately through the vines, you cannot help but feel a slight tremor upon nearing this particular pumpkin: Stooping down to take a peek, you hear the faint humming of a song... What could that be? A party? A celebration? A wedding! The guests are arriving: The bouquet is prepared: Guests are seated: The "best men" take their places:  And now, the moment they've all been waiting for.... Let the celebration begin! But first, a wedding blessing: Deep peace of the running wave to you. Deep peace of the flowing air to you. Deep peace of the quiet earth to you. Deep peace of the ...

I'm not a perfect mom, I just play one on my blog

I read a blog recently that talked about food.  The mom was very careful to say she buys farm-fresh food, only organic fruits and veggies, blah blah blah.  Then she added how she fed her child a hot dog.  But she couldn't just say hot dog.  She had to specify it was nitrate free, turkey based, something or other. But why? Who cares? Is she so afraid of being judged for giving her child a real hot dog that she must waste precious words of her post making it damn clear that it was a super-healthy hot dog? Let me stand up and be the first to say I feed my kids real hot dogs.  Well all-beef ones, but still.  I didn't cloth diaper, not because I don't care about the environment, but because I'm lazy, and it's gross to me.  However, I am planning on buying some cloth pull-ups because it's cheaper......... I didn't exclusively breast-feed, and my kids turned out fine. My kids have ketchup almost every night at dinner. My kids eat McDonalds. ...
