Time for me

Today's prompt for Working Mommy Wednesday is:

How do you carve out personal time for yourself?

I'd like to say that I excel at this every day.
But I'd be lying.
In fact, I just realized that I don't carve out personal time for me.
At all.

Sometimes I go to the gym.
Does that count?
Sometimes I run to Target at 9 p.m. at night to return something.
Does that count?

To be honest, this is the one area where I fail.

And because I don't take time for me, I feel stressed almost all the time.
I'm having heart palpitations again.
And my kidneys are leaking protein.
I'm basically falling apart because I don't take care of ME the way I should.

A pitfall of being a mother.

So let me ask you -

How should I carve out personal time for myself?

Besides leaving my family behind and booking a flight for Hawaii...........

No, Hawaii won't work... you need to come to Zambia!
But seriously, it's hard. And you having twins, I can't imagine how much harder that makes it. Hope you are able to get time for yourself.

Oh, I feel you! I wish I had advice, but I'm in the same boat. And my husband and I work opposite shifts to avoid too much daycare, so we are never home together. I just keep saying to myself that it will get easier. I'm currently trying to carve myself some gym time.

It's hard to find time for yourself. Life is crazy and us (moms) do lots of things.

Take care

I don't know either. I try to get me time once a month doing something specifically for me (shopping, eating with a friend, etc.) but I usually spend the whole time feeling guilty that I'm not home with my girls. The neighborhood moms have come up with a moms group and we have a dinner once a month in one of our homes, no kids allowed....that's fun...everyone brings a dish to share...there's usually plenty of wine to go around....and we usually all leave feeling better than we did before we came. That's all I've got though - I haven't mastered time for myself yet either. My DH on the other hand...LOL =)

Wow! It's definitely hard. My big "me" moment is getting 2 hours in the evening after the kids go to bed but more often then not it's also crammed full of chores - does that count? I also do one yoga class per week and that's totally all for me. I think you just need to find at least one thing and be consistent at it. Best of luck and thanks for linking up to WMW this week!!!
