Weekend Re-cap

Friday night was the pre-shop for my twins' club resale.  I was able to get Connor most of his summer clothes, a couple cute outfits for Keira, and a new pair of Handy "Hammy" (Manny) pjs for Colin.  He is quite obsessed with his current pair, that is only about 2 sizes too small. I've been sick with a cold, so Keith was nice enough to let me sleep in on Saturday (although that's quite hard with the kids downstairs), but after I got up, he headed to do some errands.  We just hung around the house, until my parents dropped off my nephew.  4 kids, 4 and under - how fun! ;)  Actually Reid is quite well-behaved, probably because our house looks like Toys-r-us to guests.

Please excuse Popeye, er I mean, Connor.  He thinks it's funny to close one eye in pictures these days.
On Sunday, after Keith went grocery shopping and for his run, I went for my own run.  I'm training for my first 5K in May, and have only ran outside a couple of times, both times the weather was about 50 degrees.  Brrr......  Anyway, I'm working up from one mile, so I was pleased as punch to run two miles in about 20 minutes.  The first mile was done in about 8 1/2 minutes!  I can't believe it. Keith took the kids to get me Starbucks while I showered, then we headed off to a new park.  I forgot my camera, so you will have to make do with what I took on my phone:

When we got back, Keith made us lunch - tomatos and mozzarella on ciabatta bread, then headed out to work on our "new" front yard.  (Pictures soon!)  The weather was really nice, although in the afternoon, it was quite hot.  Our backyard is in full-sun, so we stayed inside for awhile trying to get the twins to nap.  Yeah, not so much.  Colin finally fell asleep lounging on the back of the couch, but Keira refused to even sit down.  Grammy and Aunt Diana stopped by before dinner, so the kids were pretty happy to play with them.  Keith grilled steak for supper, which Colin ate, only as long as he could dip it in ketchup first.

My one complaint about nice weather and spending a lot of time outside - inside chores aren't getting done! I've got way too much laundry to catch up on tonight!

Wow, you had a busy weekend. Can't wait to see pictures of your yard.

We are trying to do lots of works on our patio (front and back) but it too much.

Have a great week.

Book Review...and a Giveaway!!!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of When the Rogue Returns  from Sabrina Jeffries herself! I couldn't wait to read it.  After reading the first book in The Duke's Men series, What the Duke Desires , I was excited to see that this next book was about Victor Cale. In  When the Rogue Returns , Victor Cale is headed to Scotland to investigate a woman, Sofie Franke.  He has his suspicions that this woman is actually Isabella, his wife who disappeared on him ten years before.  He has spent the last decade searching to bring her to justice after she stole the royal jewels and left him to behind to deal with the authorities.  Isabella Cale, now known as Sofie Franke, has built a new life for herself and her ten-year old daughter after her husband ran off with the royal jewels. Are you intrigued yet? Victor and Isa's first meeting was great! Both blame the other for the missing jewels, and both are greatly suspicious of the other's motives.  Despite ...

2018 Musings

I'm the kind of girl who, at 40 years of age, still calls herself a girl. I'm an organized person living in a cluttered house with child hoarders who keep tiny pieces of paper and use scotch tape liberally on empty toilet paper rolls, er I mean, swords.  I can't figure out why there are stickers on my couch because my twins are in 4th grade. I wish we had a house with a mudroom or a closet or a nook, just so my husband can stash all his running/biking/etc stuff there instead of on his kitchen chair. I just started wearing a plum colored lipstick and realize how much better I look even though according to the fashion magazines, my skin tone is warm and I should wear browns instead. I'm currently wondering how to respond to one of my child's teachers who reached out about the fact that he's acting up in class... and his response - "I want to have a social worker like _____ because he gets to take breaks and play with putty." My daughter took a Chi...

A Spooky Celebration

Far off in a field, in central Illinois, there lies a patch of pumpkins of the magical kind. No one knows where they come from; they appear every October, yet no one ever plants a seed. Rare in nature is the person who finds this field.  It is said that only those with a touch of magick in their hearts can find this place.  As you walks delicately through the vines, you cannot help but feel a slight tremor upon nearing this particular pumpkin: Stooping down to take a peek, you hear the faint humming of a song... What could that be? A party? A celebration? A wedding! The guests are arriving: The bouquet is prepared: Guests are seated: The "best men" take their places:  And now, the moment they've all been waiting for.... Let the celebration begin! But first, a wedding blessing: Deep peace of the running wave to you. Deep peace of the flowing air to you. Deep peace of the quiet earth to you. Deep peace of the ...
