To me, blogging is fun. I enjoy writing, and I enjoy making people laugh - which is what I hope happens when you read my blog.
However, the world isn't perfect, and sometimes tragic things happen. I live in the midwest. Just last week, about 20 minutes after we put the kids to bed, the tornado siren in our neighborhood went off. It was the first time since we moved into our house 5 years ago. Keith ran up to grab the kids, I grabbed some blankets and our lanterns, and we sat in our crawl space (no real basement, we live in a tri-level) as we waitied to see what would happen.
Thankfully, the sirens ended, and the storm passed. (Not before causing an early end to the Earth, Wind and Fire concert going on in Chicago, which I thought was rather ironic.)
For anyone who has read the news recently, you know that happy endings aren't always the case.
April and May of 2011 is permanently marked with Americans experiencing the largest tornado outbreak in US history. The devastation to individuals and families in the Southeast is unspeakable and life shattering, with a price tag of over $5 billion. Our hearts are heavy for those who have suffered so much tragic loss.
Now, I am not about advertising things on this blog, unless it's something I really believe in, or feel that my readers could benefit from. Back in January, my twins club held a magazine fundraiser. To support the club, I chose to order All You magazine. I'm so glad that I did. It has great articles for moms, and women in general. And the bonus, it has coupons throughout each issue! My husband does the grocery shopping, but it's my job to meal plan. Each issue also includes a week's worth of meals, with a complete grocery list as to all the items you need.
Click 4 Hope and All You magazine have partnered together for this great deal - 30 issues for $25. With each subscription, $10 will be donated to tornado victims as they rebuild their lives. The group goal is $30,000, and as of today, $17,152.40 has been raised.
